Proton-Coupled Reduction of an Iron Cyanide Complex to Methane and Ammonia #chempaperaday 272

Catalytic reduction of cyanide is difficult and there are not many systems that can do that. Of course, enzymes can do this. But, we still need a well-defined synthetic system that can do it. Here is a nice paper and great synthetic work. They show that they can reduce cyanide to methane and ammonia.

Lithium—For Harnessing Renewable Energy

Recently, I became more interested in mining and energy sources. Why? Because I decided not to invest in biotech stocks anymore. I started with lithium since it is the lightest and first metal on earth. I think this is the best place to start reading about it.

Did you know pegmatites (lithium containing minerals) form giant crystals? Read the article and start learning more about lithium.
